Does stress affect your over health? Of course it does! You might not know it, but like most people, you may encounter stress at one point or another. In fact, you would most likely encounter stress on a daily basis, only at varying degrees.
Stress can affect your overall health in two ways. One is quite beneficial, and the other one is not. When you are stressed through minor to moderate amount of pressure, your mind becomes more alert and keeps you motivated and you perform better. This kind of stress can affect your overall health positively since the short-term responses of the body, such as, heightened memory functions, maintenance of body homeostasis, decreased pain sensitivity, quick energy bursts for survival, and increased immunity. However, while stress affects your overall health this way, cortisol, the stress hormone in your body, must return to its normal level in order to function properly. To do this, you need to relax.
However, due to the changes and development of culture, more and more people live fast-paced and high-stressed lives. When it reaches this point, this is the time where stress affects your overall health negatively. Once stress persists, and the levels of stress hormones remain high, then “chronic stress” has developed.
Stress also affects your overall health by developing stress related health problems. Some of these health problems that occur commonly are, stroke, cancer, diabetes, abusive behavior, heart disease, obesity, memory loss, and high blood pressure. Upon reaching this stage, stress affects your overall health drastically and a lot of help is eventually required.
Stress affects your overall health differently compared to others. Sometimes, with little stress, you automatically develop problems, whereas, others may be able to take in more stress before they develop problems. Some people get affected a lot with the stress they are going through, which many would consider as minor stress.
It matters how stress affects your overall health. The bottom line is that you should always use stress to your advantage. Stress has to be balanced in order for you to keep going strong. Keep in mind that stress is not bad at all times. You should use stress energy in a positive way in order to keep up with life’s obstacles and experiences. Get the best out of your life by making use of correctly balanced stress.
